U-Reg becomes official partner of STACS ESGpedia registry, the Greenprint ESG Registry, with technical integration for sustainability reporting

Singapore, 30 March 2022 — Leading Singapore-headquartered Environmental, Social, and Governance (‘ESG’) FinTech firms, Hashstacs Pte Ltd (‘STACS’) and U-Reg today announce their partnership on ESGpedia, STACS’s flagship registry that serves as the ESG Registry in partnership with the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s (MAS) Project Greenprint. The first phase of the technical integration of U-Reg onto ESGpedia consolidates U-Reg’s sustainability data onto the registry, starting with reporting in the energy sector and contributions of ESG data from renewable energy projects in Europe.

This is part of a long-term collaboration between STACS and U-Reg to host U-Reg’s sustainability data and reporting on STACS’s blockchain-powered ESGpedia, an industry-wide library that provides banks, stock exchanges, asset managers, corporates, and small and medium-sized enterprises (‘SMEs’) with a single point of access to holistic and forward-looking ESG certifications and to data of various industry sectors.

U-Reg has developed and maintains a blockchain ESG reporting solution that publishes and shares impact data in ESG projects on a distributed private ledger. This private ledger allows the monitoring and supervision of IoT data inserted by smart sensors and provides stakeholders with a transparent and tamper proof reporting tool.

The technical integration aims to enhance the mobilisation of ESG capital via the provision of quality data amongst registry users. This will facilitate investors’ and fund managers’ ESG financing and investment decisions, and at the same time, make ESG finance more accessible, affordable, and transparent for corporates and SMEs.

As part of this collaboration, U-Reg will also make available to members of ESGpedia its solutions for ESG reporting as tasked by regulators or entities mandating ESG reporting, in Singapore or elsewhere.

Benjamin Soh, Managing Director at STACS and recently elected Chairman of the Green and Sustainable FinTech Sub-committee at the Singapore FinTech Association (‘SFA’), said: “While self-disclosed ESG data is the current norm for now, ESGpedia aims to take data-driven investment decisions to the next level by also providing ongoing data on projects as well as ESG certifications, allowing for a perpetual monitoring of corporates’ sustainability progress. Our partnership with U-Reg allows for ongoing project data to be ingested on the ESGpedia registry, starting with the renewable energy sector, with future plans to cover other sectors.”

Florian Dumas, Executive Director at U-Reg, said: “Investment firms, banks, and corporates are under increased scrutiny to make ESG disclosures and to report the climate and financial impact of their business activities. We are delighted to partner STACS ESGpedia and look forward to increasing transparency as well as efficiencies in ESG reporting.”

Earlier this month (16 March 2022), STACS launched its full suite of ESG solutions — ESGpedia, Vetta smart contract platform, and ESG Playbooks — that aims to enable effective Sustainable Finance. Under ESGpedia which is currently deployed in the beta phase, STACS has ongoing partnerships with numerous leading financial institutions and, as of today, use cases in five sectors: transport, building and construction, manufacturing, food and agriculture, and renewable energy. The aim is to broaden corporate sustainability actions in Singapore and the region, which in turn will influence consumer actions and choices, too.
